About

The Phi Foundation for Contemporary Art, in collaboration with Family, presents a performance by Eva & Franco Mattes. During the last ten years, with the advent of social media and the diffusion of smartphones, we have been made well aware of our potential audiences, of the presence of cameras and the possibility of the permanence and replicability of our images. And we have in large part incorporated that knowledge into the very act of taking a photo.

In Oversharers Anonymous, a public performative session organized by artists Eva & Franco Mattes specifically for Montreal, you will be asked to temporarily separate from your beloved phone and take turns swiping other random participants’ photos and videos, which will be projected on a large screen for all in attendance. Your images will appear too of course, swiped by a perfect stranger.

Expect banality, repetition and hopefully some transcendental moments.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served but remember, Oversharers Anonymous is a potluck in which the main course is YOU.

The event is open to everyone but space is limited. Email [email protected] to sign up and receive more details.

There are no spectators in this event, if you attend the meeting, you must participate.

Bring your phone, relax and swipe normally.

Looking forward to see too much of you.
