On Sunday September 9, join DHC/ART Education for a Happening! Co-hosted with local artist Emily Jan, the Happening marks the end of the workshop Something to Write Home About by offering a special edition of it titled Counter-Mapping the World.
For the occasion, artist Emily Jan invites participants to conjure their own personal geographies by superimposing them on a wall-sized vintage schoolroom map of the world, taking a cue from Bharti Kher’s Points of Departure series. Making use of the same methods and materials as the Something to Write Home About workshop, participants will work alongside each other and Jan to collectively collage remembered and imaginary lands.
The final hour of the Happening will be dedicated to unifying the piece by “drawing” vectors over its surface using dot stickers reminiscent of the bindis in Kher’s work.
The Happening is ongoing (from 1 to 5 PM), bilingual, free of charge, and open to all visitors. No reservation is required.
Something to Write Home About is the result of a collaboration between Emily Jan and DHC/ART Education, in conjunction with the exhibition Bharti Kher: Points de départ, points qui lient.
