DHC/ART Education invites parents, friends and children to its Family Open House on Saturday, August 18, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM. Join us, along with artist Emily Jan, in taking part in a guided visit of the exhibition Bharti Kher: Points de départ, points qui lient, adapted for children, followed by the workshop Something to Write Home About.
Something to Write Home About, created by Emily Jan in collaboration with DHC/ART Education, invites participants to create a commemorative plate honouring a person, place or thing by collaging bits of cloth and paper, found images and patterns. Details will be added on each plate using Prussian blue paint, a colour evoking various traditions of pottery, like Delftware in the Netherlands and Willow pattern in Britain. Through this workshop, participants will explore the ways in which memory and imagination can transform a domestic good into a surreal or ceremonial object.
In order to take part in the workshop, we invite you bring a plate from home. Used, chipped or orphaned plates are especially welcome.
Spaces are limited to 25 participants, reservations are required. Please contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone: 514 866-6767 ext. 4219.
