Movements: RELATIONS – On «The Body»

Publication Date
Wednesday, February 3, 2021

This audio clip is complementary to the original Movements article The Passage of the Conquered: Between Sculpture and Anthropomorphism written by Victoria Carrasco.

“The Extemporary” is a notion used in Noémie Solomon's text “The Extemporary Dance of Françoise Sullivan” to evoke the moment when the artist's work, which does not fit directly with the practices of her time, is excluded from the conventions and dominant history of art. In this audio conversation part of the Movements series, Victoria Carrasco, Adjunct Curator of Public Programs at the PHI Foundation, speaks with Noémie Solomon, Director of the Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, who is also a writer, playwright and curator.
