Workshop and Guided Visits

Education Room
465 St-Jean Street

August 6, 2011 - 2:00 pm

The Corpus project integrates the language of visual arts by both artists; John Currin whose paintings of the body are inspired by fashion magazines, advertising and the history of portraits and Berlinde De Bruyckere, who sculpts using as inspiration images of the body taken from religious iconography, documentation of war and newspaper photos. With this in mind, the participant is asked to draw inspiration from magazine and newspapers images to create a work starting with a simple hanger. The hanger may be used either as a frame for a two-dimensional piece or as the skeleton of a 3-dimensional sculpture. The work will become a personal interpretation of the creative processes used by John Currin and Berlinde De Bruyckere.

While materials will be available, participants are invited to choose and bring their own fabric or paper to add a personal dimension to their creation. The hanger and basic materials for the creation of the project will be furnished by DHC/ART.

Please note that the workshop will be preceded by a guided tour of the John Currin and Berlinde De Bruyckere exhibitions, given by one of the Foundation’s educators.

Reservations are required and places are limited.
